Austin . Winter 2013

It was not without reluctance that we left the beginnings of the Hermosa Collective to head homeward to Austin for Thanksgiving and our much anticipated Second Annual Holiday Party + Pop Up Sale.

We set out early on a Wintery morn.

There are few things as majestic as a perfect blanket of fresh snow over the desert landscape.
The highway was empty, and the yucca + cacti looked surreal, covered in delicate crystals of ice.

Mesmerizing.

As always visiting one's hometown promises both rich rewards + great challenges.

However, the unwavering ability of the Texas Forest to both heal and enchant, never fails.

Much time was spent in the mossy damp of Austin's greenbelt, praying and laying
stones + petals in undulating patterns on the yielding muddy ground.

There were bones to be found--tiny teeth, jaws and skulls. Armadillo tails.
We are always given that which we truly need.

A highlight of our time in Austin was enjoying the company of the delightful ShariGerstenberger of Charm School Vintage - our favorite East Austin stockist.  We delivered a few jars of our
Dark Moon Soaking Salts, along with lots of other divine Apothecary Goods and
shared a sunlit morning of meandering conversation.

I was also fortunate enough to spend an afternoon with one of the most
magical women in all the land--Angeliska of Sister Temperance Tarot.
She holds a beautiful and veritably witchy space of healing + reflection in her tarot readings,
all set against the backdrop of her picturesque Pecan-shaded lawn in a 1940's Royal Spartanette Trailer.

The grande finale of our journey, the Second Annual Holiday Party + Pop Up sale, was divine!
Catching up with friends missed for nearly a year, sipping spicy mulled wine, and of course--
sending home lots of plant magik to be gifted and enjoyed!

And so, as we bade our farewell to family, friends, and the Texas Wilds it was hope and optimism that filled our breast.  We were returning to the Land Of Enchantment with much to look forward to.
Promising collaborations afoot, a gorgeous new space for La Abeja Herbs,
and the magic of the desert, calling us Home.
