cherry bounce :: your new favorite drink

picking cherries 'neath stormy skies in our Crestone Orchard

Cherry Bounce is hands down my favorite cordial.  It is also one of the easiest to make--provided you are privy to a fruiting cherry tree. Picking cherries, it goes without saying, is a delight.  Rediscovering them many months later saturated with brandy and aged to perfection, however, is divine providence.  You can also use fresh or frozen pitted cherries from the store for this recipe.  Start this boozy alchemy now and enjoy at the Winter Solstice.

  • four parts cherries, pitted
  • four parts brandy or bourbon
  • two parts brown sugar
  • three cinnamon sticks

In a large jar, combine all ingredients and shake vigorously

Store in an out of the way cupboard, shaking every so often

Allow to age at least three weeks and up to two years

Enjoy on its own, added to mulled wine, or over some unspeakably delicious holiday desert
